Enrollment and Administration
Enrollment for the downstate Part-Time Basic Law Enforcement Academy has been consolidated and is now managed by the Southwestern Illinois Law Enforcement Commission (Mobile Training Unit 14).
Agencies looking for academy start dates should contact one of the two primary scheduling organizations:
• Downstate: Southwestern Illinois Law Enforcement Commission (Mobile Training Unit 14)
• Northern Illinois: North East Multi-Regional Training (Mobile Training Unit 3)
Contact information for both units is available on the "Directory of Training Organizations" page under the "Training" tab on the ILETSB official website or by clicking HERE.
The Part-Time Academy will be offered twice every calendar year. Training locations are determined as follows:
1. Primary Scheduling: Mobile Training Unit 14 and Mobile Training Unit 3 are the only two units responsible for scheduling these academy classes.
2. Regional Placement: For downstate attendees, recruits will be assigned to one of the following units based on their geographical location, provided there are enough participants to support a localized class:
• Mobile Training Unit 10: Law Enforcement Training Advisory Commission (Springfield)
• Mobile Training Unit 14: Southwestern Illinois Law Enforcement Commission (Belleville)
• Mobile Training Unit 15: Southern Illinois Criminal Justice Training Program (Carbondale)
3. Mandatory Travel: Regardless of regional assignment, all recruits enrolled in the downstate Part-Time Basic Law Enforcement Academy will be required to travel to Mobile Training Unit 14 (Belleville/East St. Louis area) on certain weekends. This is to ensure a consistent training environment for all participants. Questions regarding specific dates and weekends for consolidated training should be directed to the staff at Mobile Training Unit 14.
